Meet at: the Friends nursery, 1217 Macclesfield Road, Yellingbo. Melway ref: 305 G/H 11

Living with the Bush Coalition

A new group has been formed in response to Brumbies new vegetation removal rules around houses. The aims of the group are reproduced below. You can register your support on the website at www.livingwiththebush.org

Improving community safety in the face of increasing risk from bushfires is not a choice between human welfare and environmental integrity. This is a false choice and if pursued will result in giving people a false sense of security while ignoring other more important safety measures.

Climate Change May Wake Up 'Sleeper' Weeds

ScienceDaily (Apr. 16, 2009) — Weeds cost Australia more than A$4 billion a year either in control or lost production and cause serious damage to the environment.

n an address given April 15 in Perth to the Greenhouse 09 conference on climate change, CSIRO researcher, Dr John Scott, said, however, that those cost estimates were only based on the damage caused by weeds known to be active in Australia.
