eWaste

I lament that the valuable resources that make up these electronic goods is going to landfill instead of being recycled and continuing its useful life. Some of the valuable elements of electronic waste include gold and platinum. They can also include many toxic materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic which need to be disposed of properly. Sending these items to landfill is both wasteful and dangerous.
The good news is that there are programs now in place to enable you to recycle your old computer monitors, mobile phones or other electronic goods. The not so good news is that each of these is a separate program that targets each electronic item separately - which makes sense from the recycling end of things but is a bit inconvenient from the disposal side. You may also have to travel some distance to drop off your unwanted item.

You can stumble across these discarded items almost anywhere it seems, as I did the other day along the Warburton Trail.
